For this project, I decided to do a documentary about my local football club Gosport Borough FC. They are a non-league club who are having a great 23/24 season under the managers Pat and Joe.

I found the making of the documentary very difficult. I struggled with the project and scheduling management side of pre-production but the documentary itself turned out all right with the little time I had to edit. The documentary type I went for was a reflective documentary, meaning I used specific footage and information to tell the story including interviews and multiple cutaway shots. I tried to make the documentary as interesting as possible by cutting up the interviews I had, instead of just one interview after the other. This made the documentary a bit more entertaining as you weren’t listening to just one voice. I got interviews with both managers and three of the players, making the documentary very accurate as I was getting my information from a reliable source. This does though make the documentary extremely biased as I have only gotten information from the club itself. If I was to make the documentary less biased, I could have interviewed people such as opposition clubs/fans and news reporters/journalists. In my essay, I wrote about how you can use camera shots in documentaries to symbolize certain things, such as isolation and evilness. In my documentary, I failed to achieve shots that could symbolize the team's success and promotion battle. I think if I was to do the documentary again, I would create a shot list specifically for shots that could symbolize the club's recent success. I think my social media campaign for the documentary was very good and would really help promote the film. For the promotional banners, I used the club's bright and bold colours of blue and yellow which might help the public be attracted to the documentary advert. In most of the promotional banners, I featured Pat and Joe (Gosport Managers) to show to the public that they are the main stars of the documentary. I chose to include them as they are the main interviews present in the documentary who tell the story of the club's recent success. I think my promotional video, made for platforms such as TikTok and Instagram, summarizes and captures the documentary in only the short space of 90 seconds. I used snippets of the interviews to try and get the audience interested in what else they say. I also used multiple shots of the club such as games, training, the stadium and many more to try and show the audience what this club is like and how it feels to support it.

In conclusion, this project has been a fun but stressful journey of the creation of the documentary. The documentary focused on Gosport Borough FC, providing a glimpse into their successful 23/24 season under the management of Pat and Joe. While encountering challenges in project and scheduling management during pre-production, the end result was a satisfactory documentary. However, there's acknowledgment of missed opportunities in symbolically representing the club's success through strategic camera shots, a lesson learned for future projects. The promotional campaign for the documentary were shown to be effective as I used colorful banners and engaging videos to generate interest in the club's story and recent success.
